Aluminum Sun Baffle

An aluminum sun baffle is an expanded-metal shade panel fitted to a building’s exterior to control sunlight and heat. Made from lightweight aluminum, it shades the glazing and reduces solar gain while giving the elevation a clean, patterned finish. General Hardware manufactures aluminum sun baffles to size in Manila, using the same expanded-metal process we have run since 1964.

How a sun baffle works

The expanded-metal pattern blocks a share of direct sun before it hits the glass, so interiors stay cooler and glare drops, while air and daylight still pass through the openings. Aluminum is the natural choice for this because it is light, holds up outdoors, and does not add heavy load to the facade or the fixings.

  • Cuts solar heat gain on sun-facing elevations, easing the load on cooling
  • Reduces glare without blacking out the daylight
  • Lightweight and weather-resistant for long exterior service
  • Doubles as a design feature, not just a functional screen

Where aluminum sun baffles are used

  • Curtain-wall and window sunscreens on offices and commercial buildings
  • Building facades that need shade and a finished architectural look
  • Walkways, parking lots and balconies that need shade with airflow

Custom sizes and finishes

Sun baffles are specified to the elevation, so we make them to order. Choose the mesh size for the shade and airflow you need, the panel dimensions to suit the framing, and a finish or color to match the building. Send us the details and we will match the aluminum sheet and mesh to the job.

Why choose General Hardware for sun baffles

We are the Philippines’ only dedicated expanded-metal manufacturer, working in this material since 1964. Because we make the mesh ourselves, we can tune the open area and panel size to the shade you actually need. Contact General Hardware on +63 (02) 8911-0413 or genhardware128@gmail.com for a quote.
